Water marks on film
How to remove water marks on black and white film negatives.
Problem: the white marks that appear on film negatives are usually dried calcium or other dirt.
Solution: after rinsing the film negative with a diluted solution of wetting agent the white marks usually disappear. Hang the negative to dry for at least two hours before scanning or use in an enlarger to make a print.
Universal wetting agent for film and photo paper.
Wetting agent reduces drying time and aids uniform drying by reducing the water surface tension, thus helping to reduce water spots and stripes on the film.
Generally dilute the wetting agent concentrate before use with distilled water, 5 ml of the concentrate per one litre of water (Dilution: 1 + 200). Note: The film should be washed well before the rinse aid is applied. A list of current wetting agents avaliable in Europe.
